For my midterm portfolio in Illustration, I chose these 5 pieces. I did not redo or retouch any of them. The first project is also the most recent, and it goes down to one of my first pieces. I believe I have gained a lot of illustration skills, but still have a million more to obtain! I think my progress as an illustrator can be exemplified by these pieces.
This was a cartoon relating to the DMV. I didn't realize how much time it would take to make a simple cartoon. The expressions were the toughest part to get right on the cartoon. I believe, overall, it was successful in getting the "story" across.
Actual size: 6"x3"

This is a product illustration for a can of Pepsi. I chose to have highlights on the can as if light was coming from the right side. I wanted to have a hand holding the can up because I think it looks like the hand is holding it high, as if it's a valued product. Overall, I was pleased with the way it turned out.
Actual size: 8"x10"
This was my first attempt at gouache. I was surprised at how realistic it looked compared to the picture I was using. Besides not having a background, I would have worked on the face a little longer and made the hair a little lighter in color.
This was a blown up version of a smaller watercolor drawing that I did. I used Terry's method for making clouds. :) (paper towel to subtract from the blue) Although the proportion is a bit off on the shed, I really like how the panels turned out on the side of the shed. Also, I think the stylized corn is successful.
This was one of my first attempts at a watercolor landscape. I thought the sky was pretty cool. It kind of looks like a dark storm somewhere in the desert. This watercolor was wet on wet and I just put a big section of purple at the top and let it run down the page.
